HISTORY OFLOW-COSTAIR SERVICE AT PIEDMONT TRIAD INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT


· Mid- and late 1990s: Eastwind Airlines and Continental Lite fly from PTI, offering low-costairfares. Continental Lite leaves in 1996; Eastwind in 1999.
· 1998: AirTran Airways begins service.
· 2004: Independence Air announces it will fly from PTI; AirTran announces it will end service at PTI.
· 2005: Independence Air files for bankruptcy.
· January 2006: Independence Air shuts down its flights from PTI.
· May 2007: Allegiant Air begins offering flights to Orlando and Tampa/St. Petersburg, Fla.
· January 2008: Skybus Airlines opens a hub in Greensboro.
· April 2008: Skybus ceases operations. Skybus accounted for a third of all PTI's passenger traffic while based here.
· Nov. 17, 2012: Frontier Airlinesmakes its first flight from PTI.
· May 1, 2013: Frontier Airlines starts its Greensboro-to-Denver service at Piedmont Triad International Airport.
