Aldona Wos

  • 1955: Born in Warsaw, Poland. Daughter of Paul Zenon Wos, a Flossenburg Concentration Camp survivor.
  • 1980s: As a doctor she was involved in fighting AIDS/HIV epidemic in New York.
  • 1997: Moved to Greensboro, N.C. with her husband, Louis DeJoy, CEO of New Breed Logistics.
  • 2000s: Fundraiser for Republicans, including Sen. Elizabeth Dole, Sen. Richard Burr and George Bush. Appointed N.C. State Chair of Women for Senator Elizabeth Dole; N.C. Finance co-chair for Bush-Cheney presidential campaign.
  • 2000s: Bush appointed Wos to 2 terms on the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council.
  • Aug. 2, 2004: Bush appointed Wos as Ambassador to Estonia during the Senate recess.
  • Dec. 17, 2006: Wos left post as Ambassador.
  • Dec. 2012: N.C. Governor, Pat McCrory appointed Wos to Secretary of the Department of Health & Human Services.
